De Terugkeer van de Predatoren – Wolf & Goudjakhals in Nederland

De aanwezigheid van grote predatoren zoals de wolf én de opkomst van de goudjakhals roepen bij veel mensen vragen en zorgen op. Daarom organiseren we — op veler verzoek — opnieuw een lezing over dit actuele en vaak emotioneel geladen onderwerp.
Marc Wilbers neemt u mee in de wereld van de predatoren in Nederland. Wat is de huidige stand van zaken rondom de wolf? Hoe ontwikkelt zijn gedrag in onze cultuurlandschappen? En wat betekent dit voor wandelaars, hondenbezitters en veehouders?
Daarnaast gaan we in op vragen zoals:
- Kan ik nog veilig het bos in?
- Loopt mijn hond gevaar?
- Hoe bescherm ik mijn (hobby)landbouwdieren?
- En vooral: hoe kunnen we samenleven met predatoren, en conflicten voorkomen?
🐾 Bijzondere gastspreker: Noortje Looijenga
Op deze avond verwelkomen we ook Noortje Looijenga als gastspreker. Zij doet ecologisch onderzoek naar de goudjakhals – een nieuwe, sluipend oprukkende predator in Nederland – en schrijft haar afstudeerscriptie aan de Rewilding Academy. Noortje is daarnaast een ervaren veldgids en gepassioneerd entomologe, met een scherp oog voor de subtiele veranderingen in onze ecosystemen. Ze vertelt over de verspreiding van de goudjakhals, zijn gedrag, en hoe deze soort zich in onze omgeving gedraagt.
Een boeiende en informatieve avond met ruimte voor vragen, debat en nuance.

The Return of the Predators – Wolf & Golden Jackal in the Netherlands

The presence of large predators like the wolf and the rise of the golden jackal raise many questions and concerns among people. Therefore, we are organizing — by popular demand — another lecture on this timely and often emotionally charged topic.
Marc Wilbers will take you into the world of predators in the Netherlands. What is the current status of the wolf? How is its behavior developing in our cultural landscapes? And what does this mean for hikers, dog owners, and livestock farmers?
We will also address questions such as:
• Can I still safely go into the forest?
• Is my dog in danger?
• How do I protect my (hobby) farm animals?
• And especially: how can we coexist with predators and prevent conflicts?
🐾 Special guest speaker: Noortje Looijenga
On this evening, we also welcome Noortje Looijenga as a guest speaker. She conducts ecological research on the golden jackal — a new, quietly advancing predator in the Netherlands — and is writing her thesis at the Rewilding Academy. Noortje is also an experienced field guide and passionate entomologist, with a keen eye for subtle changes in our ecosystems. She will talk about the spread of the golden jackal, its behavior, and how this species adapts to our environment.
