Reinier van den Berg

After graduating from Wageningen University with a degree in Air Pollution, Reinier joined the private weather company Meteo Consult. In 1989, he became the weather host for RTL4, a national TV station, a role he held until the summer of 2024.

Beyond broadcasting, Reinier is an author, with his latest book exploring the true value of trees. He is also an ambassador for various NGOs and an entrepreneur in sustainability-focused businesses. As the founder of the speakers’ platform SpeakOut—and a sought-after speaker himself—he is dedicated to raising awareness about the climate crisis. His work centers on effective climate communication, inspiring individuals and organisations to embrace sustainability, and fostering a deeper appreciation for the beauty of our unique planet.

For Reinier, rewilding is not just about restoring ecosystems; it’s a powerful nature-based solution to climate change. By allowing nature to recover, we strengthen our resilience against climate impacts, creating a sustainable future for both people and the planet.

In his latest book, Reinier van den Berg explores the true value of trees, highlighting their crucial role in combating climate change and sustaining life on Earth. He delves into their ecological, economic, and cultural significance, inspiring readers to appreciate and protect these vital ecosystems.
