Alberto Ballar
Ecologist, Herpetologist
Alberto Ballar Ortiz is a biologist with a strong focus on ecology, sustainable development, and herpetology. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree from the Universidad Latina de Costa Rica in San José, where he specialized in conservation biology and the ecology of reptiles and amphibians, with field research in Costa Rica, Guatemala, and the Peruvian Amazon.
In 2007, he moved to Europe to advance his studies and completed a Master’s degree in Environmental Management, Quality, and Audits for Businesses at Formaselect Business School in Madrid, Spain.
Now based in the Netherlands, Alberto is passionate about educating others on environmental conservation and biodiversity. As a nature guide, he shares insights into local ecosystems, the challenges they face, and the role of human responsibility. His goal is to inspire awareness and appreciation of nature, empowering people to protect and preserve their natural surroundings.
