The Foundation for Restoring European Ecosystems was established in 2007 from ARK Natuurontwikkeling. However, our experience goes back much further. We have had experience with natural grazing since the 1990s. In more than 25 years, we have gained a wealth of knowledge about the natural life of wild horses and cattle. Over time, the bison and water buffalo were added.

FREE Nature’s work focuses on the recovery and development of spontaneous nature. We contribute to this in many ways. The core of our work is grazing nature areas. With around 1,100 large grazers living freely, FREE Nature is the largest private nature grazer in the Netherlands.

We also provide courses and give advice on themes such as restoration of natural processes and natural grazing. We work with this throughout the entire process from plan to implementation.
