Dr. Monique Paris

Conservation Breeding Specialist

Dr. Monique Paris is a wildlife biologist with extensive expertise in applied wildlife conservation with a specific focus on advanced breeding technologies and animal welfare. She is the Co-founder and Director of the Institute for Breeding Rare and Endangered African Mammals (IBREAM), a non-profit organisation dedicated to the conservation of African mammal species. Through IBREAM, she plays a key role in coordinating conservation programs for several endangered African key species like the Ethiopian wolf, fundraising, and supervising conservation research initiatives.

With a Ph.D. from Erasmus University Rotterdam, Dr. Paris has held Associate Professor positions at several Australian Universities and an Honorary Professorship in South Africa, providing a strong foundation for IBREAM’s Ph.D. students. She has contributed to wildlife conservation research in areas such as nutrition, welfare, reproduction, and immunological fitness and established the Pygmy Hippo IUCN Specialist Group. In addition, she has extensive expertise in regulatory processes at the governmental level on a global level both for biosamples transport as well as ethical regulatory issues.
